Content Starts HELLO KITTY x LINSEY: Hosting a Japanese Inspired Creative Workshop in Amsterdam

THE PROJECT

For this collaboration with Hello Kitty Gang, part of the iconic Sanrio universe, I was invited to create and host a creative workshop during an influencer and press event in Amsterdam.

The only thing still missing? The actual concept. So I created the entire experience from scratch.

THE CONCEPT

Around that time, I had just returned from Japan and became fascinated by Tokyo street culture and the way fashion accessories were part of everyday self-expression.

Especially face masks. Long before they became part of a daily life worldwide during COVID, masks in Tokyo already felt like fashion statements. That inspiration turned into the concept for this workshop: customizable Hello Kitty Gang face masks.

Guests could fully personalize their masks using: glitters, gems, stickers, patches and playful accessories inspired by the bold and cute identity of Hello Kitty Gang.

The goal was simple: create something people would genuinely enjoy making, wearing and sharing online.

THE EXPERIENCE

The event took place inside Mama Kelly in Amsterdam, surrounded by pink interiors, creators, press and influencers. Visually, it felt like stepping into a real-life Hello Kitty moodboard.

I designed and hosted the entire workshop experience: from the idea and examples to the setup, styling and hosting & guidance during the event itself. Every detail needed to feel playful, aesthetic and very on-brand for Hello Kitty Gang.

THE RESULTS

The workshop quickly turned into one of the most shared parts of the event. Guests customized their masks, photographed their creations and shared the results across social media throughout the evening.

Which is exactly what makes experiential marketing so powerful: people become part of the brand experience themselves. Creative workshops like this are one of my favorite ways to translate a brand identity into something people can actually interact with.

And let’s be real here…
everything becomes better when glitter is involved.
